Using children’s illustration books to inspire movement
28/06/2013, BY hkyaf
A few weeks ago, director, choreographer and dancer Kayuen ran a HKYAF workshop series for teachers and parents named The Body’s Possibilities.
One of the more popular sections was how to use children’s storybooks as stimulus for fun games that encourage creative physical movement and rhythm among 4 – 6 year old children!
Kayuen brought in an array of storybooks that were particularly inspiring and lots of people have since asked us for the list of books. Well, here they are:
De quelle couleur est le vent? » Anne Herbauts
I Like You» Sandol Stoddard Warburg
Nobuhiko Haijima
Follow the line» Laura Ljungkvist
The Old Woman Who Named Things» Cynthia Rylant
- «The Book with a Hole» Herve Tullet
And a few reference books for working with children and the importance of nurturing creative movement:
Your Four-Year-Old: Wild and Wonderful» Louise Bates Ames
- «大人有時候要聽小孩的話: 兒童哲學教授與女兒的童言故事集 » Listen to your child : a collection of children’s stories with a professor of philosophy for children and his daughter 楊茂秀
-
